Defensive fortification in Mahdia in the light of the study of the civiliztional heritage (1885 -1899)This study aims to shed light on the defensive fortifications systems (Tawabi),their history ,functions, topographic disturbution and their defensive role during the state of Mahdia .It bears many cultural, socil civilizational and political values.

The study contains the concept and meaning of defensive fortifications and the impact of the local environment on the design and construction of defensive fortifications during the state of Mahdia.

The study used the archaeological and copartive historical method, and one of the most important results of the study is that the fortifications are one of the symbols of the archaeological heritage that must be served.
