الملخص EN

This study aimed at exploring the measuring students’ abilities in using grammatical rules and mechanics in writing essay.

the research used the descriptive and analytical approach as study method and the questionnaire as data collection tool.

the study showed that students made different types of grammatical errors that mostly were due to intra lingual ones students’ written essays of the present research showed neither planning nor unity.

students are unable to evaluate, revise and make correction to their written texts in order to produce coherent text.

the study recommended that mastering grammar helps greatly in producing comprehensible essays.
