RP-HPLC method for the simultaneous estimation of furazolidone, methylparaben and propylparaben in oral suspension

A simple, rapid and precise reverse phase liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method was developed and subsequently validated for simultaneous estimation of Furazolidone, Methylparaben and Propylparaben in oral suspension.

The method is based on High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) on a reversed – phase column, Thermo Hypersil C18 column (250 mm, 4.6mm i.d; 9μm).

The separation was carried out using a mobile phase containing a potassium dihydrogen phosphate buffer (pH 6.0; 0.01 M) and Acetonitrile (60:40 v/v).

It was pumped at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min, with column temperature at 40ºC using UV detection at 230 nm.

The proposed HPLC procedure was statistically validated according to the ICH guideline.

This developed method is very practical for routine quality control of Furazolidone oral suspension.
