الملخص EN

This study dealt with the subject of the Arabic language and its impact on the building of Chadian people’s national identity.

This paper aims to shed lights at the historic roots of the Arabic language in Chad, the emphasis and explanation of the relation between the Chadian national identity, and the Arabic language, also the Arabic – Islamic civilization.

An attempt to understand the causes and the blockage that impeach this language to be the principal vehicle of Chadian national identity is made No doubt that, the Arabic language has a great impact and influence on the life of Chadian people, considering that Arabic language represents the Chadian culture and thought.

The study utilized the historical – critical method, and descriptive analytical method to show the positive impact of Arabic language in Chadian society, and its contribution on the building of Chadian people’s national identity.

The study concluded to several results, stated in the conclusion of the paper such as: understanding of actual national identity does not reside in the exclusion, stagnation, immobility and blockage, but resides in the mixing, combination, assimilation and relationship between the different components of the society.

The essential earlier of these in the context of Chad is Arabic language.
