Analysis of the relationship between the transition to renewable energies and sustainable development using simple linear regression : a case study of Algeria

This study aimed to investigate and analyse the impact of the transition to the use of renewable energies on the dimensions of sustainable development (economic, environmental, social) in Algeria during the period 2000-2019.

The results show that the transition to renewable energy use has significantly impacted the economic dimension of sustainable development, as represented by Gross Domestic Product per capita (GDP/capita).

In addition, the results demonstrate a significant correlation between the use of renewable energy and the environmental dimension of sustainable development represented by the Emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

However, the study concluded that there was no significant correlation between renewable energy consumption and the social dimension of sustainable development represented by the Human Development Index (HDI).
