Social media platform especially TikTok nowadays become more dependance among secondary students, this caused the situation to be uncontrolled among the students.

The aim of this paper was to explore how much of TikTok influenced students' academic performance.

The study also sought to identify to what extend do the well- being, passive consumptive, participatory and contributory played in the use of this particular social media.

The study included 320 form four students (n= 310, 36.8% girls) between the ages of 16 and 20 in secondary schools in Mogadishu, Somalia (M=2.53, SD = 0.826).

The data was analyzed using binary logistic regression with bivariate and odd ratios (AOR) were calculated, with a P-value was considered statistically significant.

The research suggests that female students are more likely privacy concerns compared male students; there were not significant difference in fame-seeking, passive consumptive, participatory and contributory with TikTok between male and female.

The implication of these findings, as well as the limitations of the study, are discussed.
