Carbon steel corrosion inhibition in acidic medium by the extract of olive leaves as a green inhibitor

This study investigates the effect of olive leaves as a green inhibitor.

Acid solutions such as HCl are generally employed in industries for removing the corrosion products through pickling, acid cleaning and de-sealing operations.

The effect of olive leaves on the corrosion of carbon steel in 1M HCl acid solution was studied using weight loss technique at different temperature ranges.

The effect of the following temperature ranges was investigated (25,35 and 45°C) in order to test the influence of olive leaves extract as a green inhibitor, the samples were submerged in the inhibited solution for (24 & 48 hrs.).

Follow adsorption of this extract on isothermal Langmuir the simple aqueous extract of olive leaves showed a good inhibition effect on carbon steel corrosion in 1M HCl.

The inhibition efficiency ranges of (62-85%) were achieved.
