The determinants of health expenditure in Algeria: an application by the autoregressive approach with scaled delays (ARDL)‎

The objective of this paper is to identify the main determinants of health expenditures in Algeria.

to this end, we applied the ARDL estimation method to model the long-term and short-term dynamics of the relationship between per capita health expenditures and their determinants during the period 1980-2017.

the main empirical results obtained show that the variables: number of doctors per 1000 inhabitants, number of beds per 1000 inhabitants, GDP per capita and public health expenditure in % of total health expenditure have a significant effect on health expenditure in Algeria in the long term.
