الملخص EN

…… Decades after the end of the cold war, the Russian Federation, the heir of Soviet Union, was relatively, ent from Africa.

It has still not regained a privileged position in this continent, though it has tried to compete effectively with other world powers in the last few years.

Since this period, Russia has been trying to rebuild strategic partnerships with many African States, engage military in some conflict-torn countries, such as, Central African Republic, Mozambique and lately Libya and gain outlets for its relatively expanding industries, notably the energy sector.

The paper assesses what can make Russia a reliable partner for African countries, despite some ambiguities and constraints, particularly in a context marked by the military engagement it has incepted in Ukraine since March 2022.
