Pott's disease : a review of 15 cases

Objectives : To present the author's experience with Pott's disease in Beirut, Lebanon over an 11 year period along with a review of the literature.

Methods : Fifteen cases of Pott's disease were seen between 1982 and 1993.

The presentation and clinical course of these cases is reviewed.

Results: Although 14 of the 15 patients improved enough to be discharged from the hospital, the long-term follow up of these patients was limited due to the civil war in Lebanon.

In one case, seen 3 years after treatment, it was necessary to reinitiate treatment.

ConclusionA wide spectrum of disease was seen in our cases which illustrate many of the difficulties in establishing the correct diagnosis and treatment.
