This research investigates the listening issues and techniques that Chinese students deal with in English as a Second Language (ESL) listening comprehension lessons.

This study employs semi-structured interviews with three Chinese students who are learning ELC at a Malaysian university.

The study found that Chinese ELC students used certain self-learning techniques and had issues that needed to be addressed before, during, and after listening.

As a result, this study will provide teachers with crucial knowledge about how to support these students' ELC in a way that is effective, efficient, and enjoyable.
