Rather, it is a stage of a person’s life that should be invested in worship, doing good deeds and practicing life in a manner appropriate to the physical and psychological condition of the person who has reached this stage of life.

Therefore, withdrawal from life and retirement leads to wasting time.

Thus, part of a person’s life is useless, and the importance of the research emerges in drawing attention to the situation of the elderly in Iraqi society with the transformations that the family is witnessing, and the need to analyze the changing family relations in terms of their effects on the elderly and paying attention to this group as a social group to which all members of society belong, no matter what.

The levels and classes, and the care of the elderly is considered one of the most important obligations of the human society, as all the divine books and most international legislations met to take care of all its citizens of all classes, especially the elderly.

The objectives of the research include identifying the position of Islamic legislation on the position of the elderly in the Iraqi family, as well as identifying the position of international legislation on the position of the elderly, and the current research from descriptive analytical research, where the social survey method and the descriptive method were used, and the historical and comparative method were also used.

Which the researcher used to research in collecting, classifying, analyzing and organizing information, and the research community consisted of elderly males and females who live with their families, and the intentional sample was chosen.

The elderly in our Islamic society receive more appreciation, attention and care, as we find that the elderly Muslims are happy and have a prestigious position, if compared with their non-Muslim counterparts.

These people live in loneliness and alienation, but the emergence of social dislocations that contemporary societies are witnessing have created some negative aspects From the lack of interest and indifference to some elderly people, and putting them in a hospital or in a social care home, so that we escape from their service.

Some laws stipulate the necessity of ensuring their right to obtain an appropriate pension that guarantees them a decent life, in addition to their right to adequate healthy housing and placing their care as a primary focus.

The research also reached a number of recommendations, including 1.Holding several seminars and conferences, in which a number of clergymen are hosted to give lectures that will strengthen the religious determination of young people and raise awareness of parental righteousness.

2.Reconsidering the amount of the retirement salary received by retirees and modifying it annually and in proportion to the rise in the prices of goods and services.

The Iraqi Parliament, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Finance is responsible for implementing this recommendation.

3.The need for married children to be keen to live close to their parents so that this allows them to communicate directly and on a daily basis with them and to supervise their care and meet their needs to avoid their feeling of alienation.
