The aim of the study is to explore the reasons for the decline in the level of cultural awareness among the students of the faculties of education.

despite attempts to reform the faculties of education between: (2018-1996) they have not yielded the desired results.

in order to achieve the objectives of the study, the prescriptive curriculum has been followed in analysing the entry points and directions of the reform of the faculties of education by analysing the projects of the reform of the faculties of education between 1996-2018, and analysing the societal conditions from the beginning of the 1990s to 2021.

the historical curriculum has been used to analyse the formation and evolution of schools of education.

the study has also used the critical curriculum to identify the goals of these societal changes and their implications for social justice as a core principle for any attempt at societal reform.

in its findings, the study concluded that the projects to reform the faculties of education that took place between 1996 and 2018 were not concerned with strengthening the cultural dimension of the student's teacher in practice.

the result is low citizenship values, a culture of dialogue and a weak civic culture.

this may be due to the fact that projects to reform the faculties of education have not been undertaken.
