The impact of an instructional program based on augmented reality technology on basic education college students' achievement in reading comprehension course

The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of an educational program based on Augmented Reality Technology (ART) on developing students' achievement in reading comprehension subject.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers used the experimental method, and "Academic achievement test" has been applied to the experimental and control group students.

It was applied to a random sample of (91) students of the second stage/English Department/College of Basic Education/Babylon University in Iraq.

This sample was divided into (45) students for the control group and (46) students for the experimental group.

The scientific material has been discussed through the following : the experimental group students were taught reading comprehension using the instructional program based on ART (EyeJack Creator Application) and the control group students were taught the same subject using the conventional method.

The study found the following result : there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students of the two research groups in favor of the experimental group in the post-achievement test.

This result indicates the superiority of the students of the experimental group who were taught according to the augmented reality technology over the students of the control group who were taught according to the conventional method.

In light of the results of the study, the researchers recommended to use ART in the classroom because this technology is characterized by elements of attraction and suspense, eliminating the monotony of the educational situation, and stimulating the students to pay attention in order to participate actively during the learning process.

Thus, this leads to the consolidation of information, and remaining the impact of learning for a longer period.
