A new methodology for comparative analysis of poverty in the Mediterranean : a model for differential analysis of poverty at a regional level

Over the last few decades, several studies have pointed out the multidimensional nature of poverty.

Poverty suggests a hardship that is not solely confined to lack of the monetary resources necessary to maintain adequate living standards.

The paper aims to propose a model for the differential analysis of poverty in the MENA countries through the Principal Components Analysis (PCA), in order to provide a correct definition of the different profiles of the phenomenon within different regional contexts.

In the presence of complex phenomena, the peculiarity of PCA is to identify the main dimensions of the latent sense model, which determines the relationships between variables and indicators.
