الملخص EN

Our research aims to present a diagnosis of the Moroccan experience regarding distance education from the students' perceptions, we conducted an exploratory investigation using a questionnaire aimed at a large population of 180 high school students.

The questionnaire covers three important parts.

The first part aims to show whether the financial status of the students' parents and their geographic area of residence presents a barrier to distance education.

The second part aims to determine the new roles of students during distance education while the third one aims to give a comparison, according to the learners' opinion, between distance learning and traditional education.

The results showed that distance education in Morocco confronted many challenges as the parents' low income and the geographical location of the students' residence.

In addition to that, students found some difficulties to work in collaboration and assess their learning correctlyin distance education.

In spite of that, the latter provides various communication ways and build up students' autonomy thanks to ICT.
