The success of the 15th Arab sports games 2023 (ASG 2023) held by Algeria in 2023 is due to the efforts of participating athletes and the huge behind-the-scenes contribution of 790 volunteers.

this study focuses on the variables that affect the deployment of volunteers.

the sport event volunteer motivation scale (SEVMS) four categories served as the basis for an exploratory factor analysis (EFA); purposeful, solidarity, external tradition, and commitment.

the 112 responses to the online questionnaire revealed that the strongest motivation for Arab sports games 2023 volunteers was solidarity (personal growth), followed by purposeful reasons (doing something meaningful), then commitment, with external traditions dominating the least positive factor.
