الملخص EN

A rapid methodology for the complete dissolution of a wide range of phosphate rock grades is described.

It is based on tetra borate-carbonate fusion in platinum crucible followed by dissolution in dilute hydrochloric acid.

The method is rapid and the digest can be used for trace and minor metal analysis.

The difficulty with matrix effects and background absorption was overcome by flow injection.

Inter-laboratory analysis of a phosphate rock certified reference material and a set of in-house prepared standards showed that the proposed method is as precise and accurate as the traditional mixed acid digestion procedure .

Investigation into background absorption by both treatment procedures showed that background absorption cannot be ignored especially for trace analysis.
