الملخص EN

-The fisheries potential of the Saudanese Red Sea was assessed using bottom-trawl fishing.

Production was highest (26.500 kg / vessel monthly) during January-May and was lowest in the summer.

The total seasonal (September-June) catch of fin-fish averaged 214.7 tons / vessel and consisted mostly of saurid fishes (70%) and small fish (about 10%).

The better quality fish included pristipomoides.

Lutjanids, lethrins, carangids, seranids and a variety of tropical species.

The fishery also produced viable amounts of shrimp (3.097 tons / vessel).

Lobster (1.0 ton / vessel).

Sepia (1.5 tons / vessel) and squid (101 tons /vessel).

It is envisaged that the Sudanese Red Sea fisheries could support a medium-sized industry particularly if augmented by in-shore fishing.
