Mathematical modelling of zine ions extraction from aqueous solutions using Permex

The main aim of this paper is to highlight mathematically the extraction of Zinc ions form aqueous solutions.

The process being used is Liquid Membrane Permeation (LMP), sometimes called permex (permeation extraction).

An empirical correlation was developed for two different sets of experiments.

The software MATHCAD PLUS 6.0 was used to find the values of the adjusting parameters.

Comparing the experimental values of the extraction efficiency with the determined ones, showed that a very good agreement was achieved.

One may suggest to use this correlation to calculate the extraction efficiency of Zinc ions from industrial waste water, which will facilitate the scale up of the process to an industrial application.
