الملخص EN

The biological activity of catechin and genistein isolated from methanol extracts of the leaves of Malaysian Vitex quinata is reported for the first time.

The isolation process involved extraction with various solvents and separation using column chromatography techniques.

The structure of the compounds was assigned in the basis of spectroscopic data and in comparison with published data.

Both compounds had antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but had no effect on Aspergillus ochraceus, Candida lipolytica, Sacchromyces cereviseae, and Sacchromyces lipolytica.
