الملخص EN

Research is very important for purposes of planned and equalized economic development.

Research must be investigative and because of its investigative nature, African governments are very sensitive to the idea of research.

This paper will examine problems faced by academics and researchers in Africa.

It will examine whether the African governments recognized importance of research work or not.

The paper will also attempt to identify and discuss factors which hinder academic freedom and research work in Africa.

Sudan will be taken as a case of references.
