Indole a Alkaloids from the Leaves of Catharanthus roseus (L.)‎ G. Don(A Sudanese indigenous plant)‎

Isolation and characterization of the major chemical from the leaves of Catharnthus roseus (Family: Apocynaceae ) has been carrid out .

The extraction was carried out using methanol and subjected to column chromatography to afford the pure compounds.

The structures of these compounds were determined by various spectroscopic methods such as Ultraviolet, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectrometry .

Based on these spectroscopic analysis and comparison with previous studies it was concluded that the compounds were identified as : methyl 12 – methoxy- N- decarbomethoxchanofruticosinate -1 and methylenedi- oxychanofruticosinate – 2.
