Delusion of pregnancy is an uncommon symptom and has been reported both in male and female patients who suffer from a variety of organic and functional psychiatric disorders.

six saudi females who developed this symptom in the course of chronic schizophrenic [n=4] and affective [n=2] psychopathologies are reported.

it is concluded that this symptom in female patients subserves multiple sociocultural functions
