Although it is the presence of unsaturated groups in the rubber molecule, which enables rubber to be vulcanized with sulphur, these groups also make rubber sensitive to oxygen, ozone and other reactive substances.

Jojoba oil was evaluated as an antioxidant in natural rubber mixes.

The rheumatic characteristics of the compounded rubber and the physic mechanical properties of the vulcanizes were determined.

It was found that the minimum and the maximum torque decrease, while tensile strength and elongation at break increase.

The rubber vulcanizes were subjected to thermal oxidative ageing at 100C° for different time periods.
