Microwave-assisted synthesis of 3-nitro-2h-chromenes

A simple method for the synthesis of 3-nitro-2H-chromene derivatives is described.

The treatment of substituted salicylaldehyde with 2-nitro ethanol, supported on basic aluminum oxide, in presence of phthalic anhydride and di n-butyl amine under microwave irradiation, lead to remarkably shorter reaction time, to prepare these important products.
