الملخص EN

Epithelial mucin of the rectum of vertebrate animals representing classes of amphibia, reptilia, aves and mammals was investigated using PAS and alcian blue techniques in addition to routine histological methods of staining.

The epithelial lining of rectum of Rana temporaria has a large number of alcianophilic goblet cells.

The epithelial lining of rectum of Mabuya quinquetaeniata is continuous with mucosal tubular glands, some of which has alcianophilic cells, while the remaining glands are poorly stained by the same dye.

Definite tubular gland are noticed in the rectal mucosa of Ardeola ibis in which the upper part of their cells is alcianophilic.

The epithelial lining of rectum of Rattus rattus has a large number of alcianophilic goblet cells.
