Qsar based modeling of neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists as antidepressant drugs

Antidepressant activity of some NK1 receptor antagonists is analyzed in relation to their physico-chemical and molecular properties.

A quantitative structure activity relationship is attempted using steric parameters such as molar refraction (MR), information theoretic topological index (Id), index of refraction (Ior), density (), hydrophobic parameter-partition coefficient (log P) and electronic parameter polarizability (Pz) in combination with indicator parameters.

The results have shown that Index of refraction (Ior) based model (8) is the reliable for future designing.

The results are critically discussed using a variety of statistical data.
