The aim of this study was to estimate the knowledge of relatives living with a psychiatric patient about causes and manifestations of mental illness, also their knowledge about drugs prescribed for treatment and prognosis of mental illness.
A questionnaire was structured and designed by the authors which consisted of questions related to the patient's diagnosis and treatment and informations about the accompanying relative.
The results of this study reflect the general view of patients' relatives about mental illness and their defective knowledge in this respect.
الملخص FRE
Le but de cette étude est d’évaluer les connaissances de la famille vivant avec un malade psychiatrique des causes et manifestations des maladies mentales ainsi que leur savoir sur les médicaments préscrits pour le traitement et le pronostic des maladies mentales.
Un questionroire a été établi et consistait en questions en relation avec le diagnostic du malade, le traitement et les informations concernant la famille accompagnatrice.
Les résultats de cette étude reflètent l’opinion générale de la famille des malades concernant la maladie mentale et leur manque de connaissance à cet égard.
