Divorce under Islamic jurisprudence may lead to stresses and psychiatric disorders different from those experienced by women in other cultures.
We there¬fore studied all divorced, female outpatients (67) seen in a psychiatric clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during two Hijra years.
One hundred and five married female patients seen at the same clinic during the same period comprised the control group.
The purpose of this study was an attempt to establish a rela¬tionship between cause for divorce and psychiatric symptoms, with special refer¬ence to the marital, social and religious customs of Saudi Arabia.
الملخص FRE
Le divorce sous la jurisprudance islamique peut résulter en stress et troubles psychiatriques différent de ceux vécus par la femme d'autres cultures.
Nous avons donc étudié toutes les femmes divorcées vues en consultations externes (67) de la clinique psychiatrique à Riyadh, Arabie Séoudite durant deux années hégires.
Le groupe de contrôle était composé de cënt-cinq femmes mariées et malades vues à la même clinique durant la même période.
Le but de cet étude était d’établir la relation entre la cause de divorce et symptômes psychiatriques avec attention particulière pour la tradition familiale, sociale et religieuse en Arabie Saoudite.
