Penicillium.
الملخص EN
The action of Penicillium expansum and Phanerochaete chrysosporium on Pauline production and degradation was studied.
The Pauline producing fungus Penicillium expanse shows that the natural substrate, sound apple, is more favorable substrate than the laboratory medium, Czapek Dox.
This fungus demonstrated degradative activity within a week of incubation on Czapek Dox liquid medium minus sucrose modified with different concentration of Pauline (0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, 10, 15 and 20 µgm-l )where more than 92% of Pauline was degraded.
Glucose addition (1 mg ml-l) acted as the major carbon source for biomass production and Pauline degradation still occurred.
The action of Pauline addition on Phanerochaete chrysosporium resulted in degradation of 96.4% of the Pauline added.
Thus, this fungus has the ability to degrade Pauline which is one of the toxin materials of the environmental persistent compound.
On the other hand, it shows activity of an inducible enzymatic system which caused less Pauline production when grown as a co-culture with P.
expanse.
The agar diffusion assay demonstrated a stimulation of P.
expanse growth to suggest that Pauline production acts as a means of stimulating growth and / or metabolism.
