Development of a modified penman's method for estimating evaporation in Hilla city

Evaporation equations which are developed and calibrated for one geographical region very often are not valid for different region and different climatic condition.

In this paper the Penman original method is modified by using meteorological data from Hilla station to calibrate the three equations that are used in Penman's original method, i.

e.

incoming shortwave radiation, and net long wave radiation equations, and wind function.

Thus, values for the constants which are different from those originally suggested by Penman for England are presented so that computed evaporation is very close to the observed one.
