This study attempts to explore Athol Fugard’s vision for a non racial South Africa after the end of apartheid and the beginning of a crucial stage of reconciliation with reference to his play My children! My Africa!.

I will also try to examine Fugard's fight against the colonial education of his native South Africans as one of the most important steps needed to achieve integration and mutual understanding.

Although most of Fugard’s plays are set in South Africa, this paper maintains that they tackle transcendent and eternal human issues beyond the domestic sphere and envisage a society based on racial equality and reconciliation-a society that accepts the existence of the ‘Other.’
