الملخص EN

The key objective of the present study is to describe and analyze the reality of the Internet use and its impact on the dimensions of social Cohesion in the Egyptian family in light of the challenges of globalization.

This is done in light of the following sub-objectives: 1- identifying the reality of Internet use in the Egyptian family.

2- trying to detect the dimensions of social cohesion in the Egyptian family.

3- Finding out the impact of Internet use on the dimensions of social cohesion in the Egyptian family.

4- Disclosure of the future of Internet use and how it affects the enhancement of the dimensions of social cohesion in the Egyptian family in light of current challenges.

The study resulted in the following most important results: A- Paying attention to internet use by the sample of the study from heads of households as it remarkably represents for them one of the necessities of life .

The uses of respondents have varied from cultural, scientific, practical to social uses.

B- Senses of belonging, inclusion, participation and acceptance of the others are the most important dimensions of social cohesion in the Egyptian family .The results of the field study showed the emergence of some negative behaviors, especially by the children of respondents, such as apathy, indifference, rejection, lack of participation in bearing the responsibility and not taking into account the appreciation of the efforts of parents, things which have negative effects on achieving social cohesion inside the family.

C - Weakness and distortion of social relations within the family as the Internet takes much of the time and interest of the respondents, as well as their children, including the time allocated to the family to spend together.

D -The use of the Internet leads to cutting ties between family members and their relatives ; which uproots them from their origins , increases their sense of loneliness and makes families appear in this picture of isolation which negatively affects the achievement of social cohesion.

E-The field study results revealed that frequent use of the Internet led to the establishment of new negative values that affected the values system in general and especially of the family members of respondents in the community of the study ( Shebin El Kom) .The flew negative values system included values such as : lack of social companionship , decline of visits in the life of family, dominance of the individual nature, disinterest in reading and waste of the value of time, thereby adversely affecting the achievement of social cohesion.

F- The results showed that the Internet is a double-edged weapon .

If the family made better use of it by promoting meaningful positive values such as the dissemination of culture, science and sound educational methods ...etc., thereby enhancing social cohesion and destroying negative values that support fragmentation , individualism and isolationism , and other values that affect negatively on the achievement of social cohesion in the Egyptian family.
