Anti-toxoplasma gondii antibodies in working donkeys and donkey's milk in greater cairo, Egypt

Toxoplasma gondii is one of the important zoonotic parasites of worldwide zoological and geographical distribution. ELISA prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in Egyptian locally bred working donkeys in greater Cairo was evaluated.

The donkeys were 75 females and 25 males aged between 3-10 years.

The results showed that ELISA antibodies of T.

gondii were found in 45 out of 100(45%) working donkeys. Donkeys' milk obtained from fifteen pregnant females was T.

gondii positive in seven(46.3%).

The zoonotic role of donkeys and their milk were discussed.
