Investigation of information technology use by non-english speaking academics

The revolution in information and communications technology (ICT) has had a pervasive impact on all aspects of human endeavor.

Unfortunately, educational institutions in many parts of the world are still trying to cope with the issue of integrating ICT in their teaching methods.

This research examines the extent of IT use by the faculty members in a local university with a mixed language curriculum in the United Arab Emirates (University of Sharjah).

The study reports the extent of IT integration and the barriers to such integration.

The findings suggest that the participants see the English language and the complexity of some of the IT tools as the main barriers to such integration into their work environment.
