Symptoms of despair induced by design challenges : difficulties of design students in creative work

Students of Design, while working on design problems under special conditions in carefully organized workshops encounter crisis-situations in their creative efforts.

In two sets of three workshops each, observations on the nature of those crisissituations were obtained, explored and analyzed.

It is argued, that they are unavoidable, interpersonal and due to the specific challenges design problems pose in a solution process.

Proper training in self-management and deeper insight into the nature of designing are needed as countermeasures.
