Phytochemical investigation of azadirachta indica stem bark

Phytochemical investigation of the stem bark of Azadirachta indica resulted in the isolation of an acyclic norditerpene 2, 6, 10, 14-tetramethyl pentadeca-8-en-2, 7 β-diol (azadirechterpinol A) (1), a monocyclic homoditerpene 2, 6, 10-trimethyl-l4-cyclopent-15-enyl-o-tetradecan-6α, 8α- diol (azadirterpinol B) (2), a sterol glycoside stigmast-5, 7-dien-3 β-ol-β-D-glucopyranoside (3) and an acyclic norsesquiterpenic acid 9, 9-dimethyl decan-7-en-2-o1-11,12-dioic acid (azadirachtoic acid) (4), along with the aliphatic constituents 6-methyl-n-triacontane (5), n-heptacosan- 8 β-ol (6) and n-hexacosanoic acid (7).

The structures of all these phytoconstituents have been illustrated on the basis of spectral data analyses and chemical reactions.
