The reaction of aromatic aldehydes with semicarbazide hydrochloride yielded corresponding semicarbazones(I) .The semicarbazones were cyclized to corresponding oxadiazoles(II) by using Br2/ACOH.The oxadiazoles (II) were converted to substituted triazoles (III) by refluxing with hydrazine hydrate in ethanol .These substituted triazoles were converted to product 1,2,4-triazole-6-(5H)-thione by refluxing with carbon disulphide in precence of ethanolic KOH The structures of compounds I,II,III and IV have been established by their IR and 1H-NMR spectra.
