الملخص EN

Cellular automata are based on the fact that the complex global behavior can be achieved from simple particles interaction ; this fact motivates us to adopt cellular automata in the animation process.

In many situations we have objects of complex behavior and we wish to animate them by discovering rules of their interaction.

We can't represent them by a global equation due to its complexity.

The advantage of the cellular structure is that it allows a much simpler physics.

But, its disadvantage is that it is top down approach, i.e.

it is easy to generate very complex animation but, it is difficult to get the proper rules for certain physical event.

Therefore, our work will focus on studying how to get the proper rules of interactions between the object's parts that constitute the overall complex behavior.

In this paper, a cloth animation method, based on mass spring model, is developed.

This method maps the dynamics of the mass spring model to the updating rules of the cellular automata.

The significance of this research is that the advantages of cellular automata such as the distributed computation and the parallelism will be added to the process of cloth animation.
