The antioxidant and antihaemolytic activities and the polyphenols contents of some plant seeds extracts

Results of this study which were carried out on the ethanol and acetone seed extracts bf Primus armeniaca, Cerasus vulgare, Nespole, Opuntia ficus-indica, Cucumis melo, and Wis vinifera proved that these extracts contain bioactive substances such as polyphenols and flavonoids.

The UV-VIS spectrophotometric assays showed that the extracted materials possess strong band in the range between 250-300 nm which confirm the presence of polyphenols and flavonoids.

The concentrations of these materials were different depending on the type of plant seeds and the solvents: used for extraction.

The antioxidant and antihaemolytic activities of the extracts were determined by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) method, and red blood cells (RBCs) haemolysis test.
