A decision support system for locating a manufacturing facility in Jordan

This paper presents the development and implementation of a Decision Support System (DSS) to provide facilities planners with a tool for enhancing the quality of decision-making process in the domain of manufacturing facility location in Jordan.

The location evaluation is accomplished via a location model, which is formulated as a linear additive multi-attribute utility model.

The developed DSS integrates a model base management system with a database management system and an interactive graphical user interface.

The system incorporates manufacturing requirements which are represented by users' requirements, with factual location data to recommend the best location for a manufacturing facility.

The system provides the recommendations tcxtually and graphically.

The results of the system suggest that the system performs accurately and satisfactory according to design specifications and according to available data.
