Voltage stability assessment of a complex power system through the equivalent two-bus model is a hot topic of the research in the field of power system operation and control which predicts the system voltage collapse point in a faster way.

As Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) controllers are now an inescapable part of power system, in this paper a popularly used FA CTS device, thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) is modeled for optimal power flow analysis to assess the voltage stable states of any interconnected power system in terms its reduced two-bus integrated equivalent network.

Simulation results in a practical 203-bus Indian Eastern Grid (WBSEB) system have shown that the proposed methodology is promising to assess the voltage stability of any power system at any operating point in global scenario.

Voltage stability enrichment with the application of TCSC at the critical line connected to the weakest bus is compared with the results obtained for the same system without TCSC.

In the proposed equivalent network, the generators have been modeled more accurately considering economic criteria.
