الملخص EN

Aim of the problem.

During instrumentation is the irrigant solution capable of reaching to the apical area of the root canal to debride it.

This study examined whether efficient irrigation of the root canal is dependant on the type of instrumentation technique used.

Materials and methods.

Clear acrylic blocks with simulated root canals were manufactured.

Different instrumentation techniques were performed and then the canals were irrigated with water dyed with basic fuchsin dye.

The degree of entrance of the dye was measured for all the instrumentation techniques.

Results.

The step back technique increased the entrance of the irrigant in the small MAFs (20-35).

Additional flaring of the root canal did not dramatically increase the irrigant’s entrance.

Conclusion.

The apical 3 mm of the canal cannot be irrigated efficiently unless the MAF size 55-60 with extra flaring of the canal are employed.
