الملخص EN

Aim of the study: to provide us with a base line data on the occlusal features of primary dentition and these include molar relationship, incisor relation in term of open bite and overjet in relation to sex and geographical location.

Materials and methods : An oral health survey was conducted among 981 preschool children aged 5 years from randomly selected kindergarten schools in the main three cities in Iraq which are Baghdad, Mousel and Basrah.

Results and conclusion : Results of this study showed that most of the sample demonstrated normal type of occlusion (straight terminal molar sagittal plane) in all three cities, also most of the sample showed an ideal range of overjet which does not exceed 2 mm.

These results occur more prominent in Mousel city followed by Baghdad and Basrah.

Baghdad city demonstrated high percentage of children with anterior open bite 10.58 %, while children of Mousel city demonstrate lesser percentage 7.5, and children of Basrah city showed least 5.3 %.
