الملخص الإنجليزي

The aim of the study is to investigate the proverbs that are used by Bedouin women as linguistic markers in their speech.

A systematic questionnaire and informal interviews were used to elicit the data of the study.

The interviews are used with old women, while the questionnaires are used with young women.

The findings of this study indicate that Bedouin women use certain proverbs in some situations of keeping up tongue, praise, dispraise, and jealousy.

The results of the study show that Bedouin women use certain proverbs in certain situations like keeping up tongue, praise, dispraise and jealousy.

These proverbs are used as linguistic markers and some of these proverbs are only used by Bedouin women and not used by other women in other regional dialects.

This thesis consists of five chapters.

The first chapter provides an introduction.

The second chapter represents the literature review.

The methodology of the study is discussed in chapter three.

Findings and data analysis are discussed in chapter four.

Finally, chapter five includes conclusions and recommendations.
