الملخص الإنجليزي
-This study is concerned with studying the extent of globalization effect on Colloquial Jordanian Arabic used by university students in Jordan.
The data obtained are drawn from a questionnaire and some observations applied on Mu'tah University students.
The findings of the study are as follows: 1.
Borrowing foreign words and/or expressions which is occurred in the university students' daily communications, is considered as the most important example of the effect of globalization on Colloquial Jordanian Arabic.
2.
The source language of these foreign words and/or expressions used in Colloquial Jordanian Arabic as a result of globalization is English.
3.
The wide – spread of technology (i.e.
Internet, computers, mobiles, and satellite channels) prestige, the students' specializations, and the need to fill semantic gaps in the Arabic language in some fields such as science, technology, …etc.
are the main reasons behind the use of these foreign words and/or expressions.
4.
Females use these words and/or expressions more than males do.
5.
Most of foreign words and/or expressions used during the students' speech do not undergo any phonological and/or morphological changes.
6.
Some of these words and/or expressions acquire Arabic phonological and/or morphological changes.
In other words, they become Arabized words and expressions.
