الملخص الإنجليزي

-Minitaurized optical system designs are of importance for many various applications, of special concern are the medical applications.

Laser camera system, capsular endoscopes, confocal microscopes are few examples, where tiny optical scanners and imaging systems play an important role .

Microlens arrays are implemented in optical systems for steering and for image formation, the archetype of its design is the compound eye of insects.

In this work studies of optical designs of micro lenses scanners and imaging systems, starting with single aperture system and ending with multiple lens arrays system, are presented.

The scale of miniaturization is extended towards the nano scale regime, as a new attempt to design and analyze nano lens arrays NLA imaging systems.

For all micro-nano optical configurations, system components dimensions, system geometry and optical constraints are chosen based on geometrical and physical optical considerations to fulfill the performance objectives.

However, Zemax-EE software is exploited for geometrical ray tracing, physical optical propagation, and nonsequential ray tracing.

The influence of various design parameters on the quality of scanned beams and images, are achieved.

The obtained results, form new tries for two folds.

First, to gather the design and analysis of lens arrays optical systems (to function) as scanners and imagers, simultaneously.

Second, to tackle the problem of designing nano lens array systems to achieve superresolution image formation.

The types of scanner systems that have been handled in this work are: (i) single aperture scanner for two different wavelengths of 0.532μm and 1.064μm.

Shorter track of light is achieved with the former wavelength, and better performance characteristics are reached with lower entrance pupil diameter of 0.15mm but with low cutoff spatial frequencies.(ii) single channel of Keplerian telescopic system with two different stop numbers F#s .

These are F#5 and F#1.5.

The one with F#1.5 has many privileges over that of F#5, as manifested in total track of light as short as 0.99mm, large field of view of 30o, and high resolution as high as 2.2μm.

However, the system is not performing in the diffraction limit until aspherical surfaces of lenses are implemented in the design.

(iii) microlens array MLA scanner systems with F#2.43 for two decenteration values of microlens arrays of ro=0.05mm and ro=0.065mm.

The one with higher decenteration predicts the influence of increasing aberrations on the output.

However, MLA system shows an enhancement in resolution compared to that of the above mentioned types of scanner systems.

The imaging qualifications of single array, and of the Keplerian telescopic multiple arrays system , are presented.

It is found that optimizations are needed to enhance the quality of images, specifically for lower F# and for larger decenteration of lenses for scanner systems.

An alternative approach for ultracompact imaging system is the adaption of superposition compound eye, the Gabor-superlens GSL.

This multi-channel imaging approach: has been applied on both micro and nano scale.

The one that corresponds to nano scale offers a total track of 0.00027 mm and resolution of about 300 nanometers.
