WiMAX, IEEE 802.16 Standards, OFDM, S-OFDMA, Adaptive Modulation, Advanced Antenna Systems, MIMO, Matlab/Simulink simulation The objective of this thesis is to investigate the WiMAX systems that are based on the Scalable OFDMA systems.
An investigation into schemes of improving the coverage and increasing the data rates of the WiMAX applications is studied for the adaptive modulation and advanced antenna systems.
The adaptive modulation scheme depends on the propagation channel characteristics.
The more rapid changes of the variation of the time varying channel, the less received signal to noise ratio, which results in choosing low-level modulation scheme for an appropriate BER performance.
The advanced antenna system improves the system performance such as this technique reduces the effect of multipath propagation.
A Matlab/Simulink model is built to illustrate this idea with the idea of changing the modulation scheme depending on the received signal to noise ratio.
