الملخص الإنجليزي

This work deludes the study of properties of polypropylene (i), polycarbonate (PC), and paddy ethylene re oath a late (PETJ, and their binary and tear blends.

These polymers have a wide range of domestic and industrial applications and are widely used as containers- far different kinds of liquids, so> their behaviour sand the behaviour of their blends have to be studied in order to investigate their properties when therein contact with these liquids.

Additives; dechloranc and titanium oxide (TiO2) are added in it percentage of (1 %), to the binary fend ternary blend to improve their resistance to ultraviolet radiation (U.V.) and weather factors.

The choice of the optimum blending percentage was decided by blending four different percentages as follows : 1.

Binary blend ; (90 : 10), (80: 20) (75 : 25} and (70 : 30) of polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate respectively 2- Ternary blend : polycarbonate and polypropylene, together, form the major constituent, while the minor constituent is polyethylene to rep nth a late.

As was done with binary blend, four different percentages were blended ; (90 : 10), (SQ : 2A), (75 : 25) and (70 : 30).

The (Trip) percentage is iS0 respectively, which is decided to be the best of the most optimum properties according to previous study.

Toe polymers were mixed manually according : to the above-mentioned percentages, and extruded by a.

single screw extruder, into a sheet of (0.4- (h.7) nun .the same process was done with pure polymers.

Tensile- test specimens were cut from the sheet of each blend, and tensile test is performed to specify the blend of the optimum percentage.

It was found that, far binary and ternary blend, the (SO : 20) % blend, had the Highest tensile strength, when compared tether percentages, hence ; this percentage was chosen to work with in the research process.

The test carried out were : tensile strength, impact strength, creep resistance, thermal conductivity measurement, hardness, the weight change of Specimens when attacked by chemical solutions, and the effect of ultraviolet radiation and thermal aging on some of the properties.

Binary blend showed an improvement in tensile strength (7.1) Iota, when compared to plain polymers, wbieh bad a tensile strength of (3.2) MPa and (4, 4) MPa for polypropylene and! Ptilvethylene terephthalates respectively, with a decreased value c-f strain, which was about (3), which was & lower than that for both polypropylene (7.5) and polyethylene terephtfaatlate (5.5).

After the addition of dechloranc, the tensile strength of binary blends increased! To (7-5) Mpa.
